Gas prices on the rise nationally, down in CNY

Gas prices up slightly across the country for the start of the work week (CNYCentral File Photo).

A new alert for drivers on Monday: gas prices are are on the rise nationally, but down here in the Syracuse area.

AAA Western and Central New York says the national average price for regular unleaded is now $2.28 per gallon.

That's up 2 cents from last week.

Drivers in the Syracuse area can expect to pay an average of $2.36 per gallon.

That's down 2 cents from last week.

AAA says the national pump prices have increased this week because of rising crude oil prices.

Here's the break down from AAA:

Batavia - $2.47 (down 6 cents since last week)

Buffalo - $2.51 (down 2 cents since last week)

Ithaca - $2.34 (down 3 cents since last week)

Rochester - $2.42 (down 2 cents since last week)

Rome - $2.45 (down 2 cents since last week)

Syracuse - $2.36 (down 2 cents since last week)

Watertown - $2.43 (down 3 cents since last week)
