Heavy rains cause road erosion in Eaton

Friday night's rain washed out shoulders on several Madison County roads. This is Reservoir Road in Eaton, west of Morrisville

Lots of rain in a short time made for a new problem in Madison County on Friday afternoon: erosion.

In the Town of Eaton several roads have shoulders and parts of the roadway washed away. Town Highway Superintendent Larry Phillips tells us that an especially hard hit area is south of Route 20 and west of Morrisville, in the Williams Corners/Reservoir/Gulch Road areas.

Residents have told us that driveways were also eroded away by the downpour.

An Eaton Village resident says he saw a funnel cloud briefly touch down late Friday afternoon. The National Weather Services has been contacted, for confirmation.
