Help needed to find man wanted for murder; SPD says he may be 'armed and dangerous'

Wendell Griffin (Syracuse Police)

Syracuse Police they are again asking for help finding a man wanted for murder after a homicide in the city earlier this month.

Police say they're looking for 29-year-old Wendell Griffin of Syracuse. There is an active warrant for Griffin for murder in the second degree, robbery in the first degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, for the death of Rayshonn Hester on June 3, according to police.

"Detectives have been searching for Griffin, but have been unsuccessful in locating him, and are asking the public to provide any information about him or his location," police said in a release Tuesday. "The weapon used in the Homicide has not been recovered, and Griffin should be considered armed and dangerous."

Earlier this month detectives charged Joshua Wright, 27, with murder in the first degree, robbery in the first degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree for Hester's death. At the same time police said they were looking for Griffin, but efforts to find him since have yielded no results.

Anyone with information on Griffin is asked to contact the Syracuse Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 315-442-5222.
