Here's the real story on that Lake Ontario 'Shark' video

Is that a shark?

The video has been clicked on by hundreds of thousands of people, and now we've learned it is a hoax. It shows fisherman, supposedly on Wolfe Island, in Lake Ontario off Ontario, Canada.

Paul Lewis, Discoveryâ??s president and general manager, said his team started working on the concept six weeks ago with the full intention of making the video â??go viral.â?? In a news release, the company says: "The video of the incredibly life-like prosthetic model shark is the first stage of a multi-level marketing campaign tied to the channelâ??s iconic summer event."

The caption posted with the video said the clip was filmed off Wolfe Island near Kingston, Ont., where Lake Ontario meets the St. Lawrence River, which eventually flows into the Atlantic. Wolfe Island Mayor Denis Doyle says it was "rather concerning" to learn the clip was a hoax.
