High humidity & warmth plus a front will ignite some scattered thunderstorms

Good morning! Here is what you need to know before you go.

We have yet another day where both temperatures and humidity values will be well above average. This morning, temperatures will start at sunrise in the upper 60s to lower 70s, which is nearly 20 degrees above average. Expect sunshine to mix with some clouds. Most spots should be dry throughout the morning. However, between 11 AM and noon, a shower or thunderstorm will threaten parts of the Finger Lakes region and near the Lake Ontario shoreline. Temperatures should rise into the lower 80s by the end of the morning.

During the afternoon, high temperatures should rise at least into the lower to middle 80s for most of central New York, but could go a little higher if additional sunshine occurs. With a combination of warmth, humidity and a front moving through, isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will likely form and move slowly through our area. There should be plenty of instability and moisture in the area. Therefore, some localized heavier downpours will be possible.

I have attached a video forecast showing an hour-by-hour progression of today’s weather hour-by-hour and place-by-place across central New York.

After a cloudy start to Saturday, some brightening skies and sunshine will develop from north to south across our area. This cloud cover will not be too far away, though. Some of this cloud cover will try and creep back into parts of our area for Sunday. The highest risk for the most cloud coverage and perhaps a shower Sunday will be over the southern tier and western New York.

I have attached another video forecast showing you and hour-by-hour forecast for the Taste of Syracuse.
