Ithaca man arrested for theatening ATM customer with knife

A man accused of of threatening an ATM customer with a knife is arrested in Ithaca.

Police say they were called to the 200 block of E. State Street around 1:30 am Wednesday. They say an officer found 26-year-old Richard Knapp of Ithaca with a knife in his hand. Knapp dropped the knife when police told him to.

Witnesses told police the victim was at an ATM with friends taking out money when Knapp demanded money saying he had a knife. Knapp is charged with attempted robbery and menacing.

Knapp was arraigned in Ithaca City Court Wednesday morning and taken to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bail bond.
