LaFayette man killed in Pompey crash with combine farm truck
POMPEY N.Y. —
The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says a man from LaFayette was killed in a crash Wednesday night in Pompey, when his pickup truck rear-ended a combine farm truck stopped on Sweet Rd.
Investigators have identified the victim as 58-year-old Willliam Miner. They say he was driving south on Sweet Road around 7:30 Wednesday night when it crashed into the back of the combine farm truck that was stopped in the southbound lane to off load crop into a trailer that was parked in the northbound lane.
Miner's 14-year-old passenger was taken to Upstate University Hospital where she remains in critical, but stable condition, according to investigators.
An employee says Miner was well known in Fayetteville, where he owned the bowling alley, Green Lakes Lanes.
They say the operator of the combine farm truck was not hurt and is cooperating with investigators.
