Lights on the Lake begins Monday night

Lights on the Lake begins Monday night for this year's holiday season with a special no cars allowed preview.

Usually, you can enjoy Lights on the Lake from the comfort of your vehicle, but Monday it was all about families and friends walking together, enjoying the lights and displays up close.

There are a number of attractions, including a Land of Oz display, a Victorian village, fantasy forest, and more.

Carrie Wojtaszek says opening day is something everybody looks forward to.

"It's a tradition, I grew up here and went as a child. And now I have three kids of my own and I bring them through. So it's a wonderful way, it's something you know is coming up. And a lot of people move away, and just like they'll come home for a Heid's hot dog, they'll come home for Lights on the Lake. It's kind of like on your to-do list when you come back to Central New York," Carrie Wojtaszek said.

Tuesday you can bring you four-legged friends with you to walk the two mile stretch.

Wednesday is salute the troops night, and anyone who currently serves or has served will receive free admission.
