Longtime employee purchases ‘Herb’ Philipson’s
ROME, N.Y. —
Longtime employee Guy Viti has purchased ‘Herb’ Philipson’s.
Company President Gary Philipson announced Wednesday that Viti was buying the company. Philipson said Viti started working his father 37 years ago.
“We know the company and its 340 plus employees are in good hands with our friend and co-worker Guy Viti. I’m sure there will be many new and exciting developments for the company under the ownership of Mr. Viti," Phillipson said.
"Herb" Philipson's was founded by Gary's father, Herb , in 1951. The first store opened in Rome and since then, expanded to nine locations across central New York.
Viti said he looks forward to working with the company and his 340 teammates.
"I have plans for many new and exciting changes at our nine stores. Stay tuned, the best is yet to come,” Viti said.
Locations in central New York included Rome, Oneida, New Hartford, Herkimer, Watertown, Newark, Liverpool, DeWitt and Oswego.
