Longtime TV & radio personality Phil Markert offers free piano workshop

TV and radio personality to host one man show

Phil Markert knows how to entertain an audience. The longtime Syracuse radio and TV personality is also an accomplished piano player with a unique improvisational style.

Markert will be teaching that style at a free piano workshop Thursday, November 1 at The Piano and Organ Center, in North Syracuse.

Markert brings his more than 50 years of experience as an entertainer and musician to his one-man show which blends his love of musical improvisation with humor and stories about his legendary career as an entertainer.

Makert says his show called, "Improviano!" is a way for him to teach others how to improvise and create powerful songs.

"It's a wonderful way to tell a story and it's all based off of just five chords," he said.

"Improviano!" Piano techniques with Phil Markert is happening Thursday, November 1 at 7 pm, at the Piano and Organ Center, on Lawrence Road East, off Route 11, behind Key Bank in North Syracuse.

It’s free and open to the public.
