Malfunction causes power outage for thousands in North Syracuse, Salina
NORTH SYRACUSE, N.Y. —
A power outage in North Syracuse and the Town of Salina has left thousands without power.
National Grid says about 4,500 people are without power after a failure that began around noon.
A spokesperson for National Grid tells us the problem appears to have been caused by a malfunction in four overhead electricity lines; the cause of the malfunction is not yet known.
North Syracuse Junior High School is among the buildings without power. The school says it does not plan to have an early dismissal because it expects power to return, but says after-school activities are being cancelled.
The spokesperson said power should be restored throughout the afternoon.
