Man arrested after robbery at Tops Grocery Store

A man was arrested after a robbery at the Tops Grocery Store at 700 First North Street in Syracuse, according to Syracuse Police.

Damian Hooper, 22, was arrested and charged with Robbery in the second degree, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree, police said.

Police responded to the Tops at 6:10 p.m. on Thursday, and their investigation revealed that a male suspect entered the store, and took perishable items without paying for them, according to police.

Hooper then fought with loss prevention personnel and displayed a pocket knife when he was confronted outside, police said.

According to police, Hooper is homeless, and is set to be arraigned on the charges on Friday.
