WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- A man committed suicide during a traffic stop in Watertown early this morning, according to New York State Police.
Investigators say two troopers were on patrol on County Route 67 when they saw a Ford F150 pick-up truck turn south onto State Route 11 from County Route 67. According to the troopers, they pulled the driver over after seeing himdriver move from the designated lane in an "unsafe manner."
The troopers reported they got out of their car and began walking toward the truck when they heard a noise. The troopers then went back to their patrol car, re-assessed the situation and went back to the truck, according to NYSP.
That is when the troopers saw the driver had committed suicide using a "long gun."
State Police ruled the death a suicide.
