Marriott promises to pay for new passports after massive data breach

Marriott promises to pay for new passports after massive data breach.

Marriott promises to re-reimburse victims for new passports after a massive data breach.

Company officials confirmed more than 500 million Starwood guests were compromised.

More than 300 million passport numbers are believed to have been exposed in the breach that dates back to 2014.

Now, Marriott says it will pay for new passports for those impacted, but only if fraud has actually occurred.

This comes after pressure from government officials, including NY State Senator Chuck Schumer.

The cost of a passport replacement for adults is $110 dollars.

Security experts fear that, in a worst case scenario, the data breach could pose serious risks of identity theft.

If you're concerned that your passport information has been stolen or compromised, you can contact the National Passport Information Center at 1-877-487-2778 or NPIC@state.gov for assistance.
