Monday on NBC3 at 11: Parents struggling with 'daycare deserts'

Monday on NBC3 at 11: Parents struggling with "daycare deserts" in Central New York (CNYCentral).

For every three children in Onondaga County, there is only one daycare spot, according to the Center for American Progress.

The group defines a child care desert as a “census tract with more than 50 children under age five with either no child care providers or limited options."

The U.S. Census American Fact Finder recorded in January 2018, there were 270 fewer seats available for parents in Onondaga County.

Monday on NBC3 at 11, Stephanie Stanavich tells us why this is happening, which parents are most impacted, and what parents can do to avoid being stuck in this “daycare desert.”
