More money allotted for upgrades to the Oswego Lighthouse

OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Oswego Mayor Billy Barlow announced an additional $75,000 will got towards restoring the Oswego Lighthouse.

According to the Mayor, the funding will be used to paint the structure's exterior.

The new funding is in addition to the $100,000 the city already received from Assemblyman Will Barclay.

Mayor Bill Barlow said there will be a ceremony on Thursday June 21, dedicating a plaque to the lighthouse, which will recognize the structure as a historic landmark in the city of Oswego.

The ceremony is set to take place at the H. Lee Maritime Museum at 9:30 AM, officials said.

According to officials, the work on the lighthouse's exterior will begin the week of June 25.
