Osmose Utilities Services is relocating its Syracuse-area office and shifting some jobs to other locations, according to a company representative.

The New York State Department of Labor issued a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) saying the Osmose Utilities Services plant in East Syracuse is closing, stating that 101 jobs will be affected. Company officials say when all is said and done 14 positions will be eliminated and the remainder will be relocated.

Osmose Director of Marketing Lauren Glass said the current office houses software development, project delivery and engineering delivery positions. Software development employees will remain in the Syracuse area at a new location, while the majority of the project delivery and engineering staff will be offered the option to relocate to company locations in Buffalo or Atlanta, or work remotely from home, Glass said.

"These changes are part of an overall effort to combine, align, and optimize business functions," Glass said.

The WARN notification on the NYS Department of Labor's website says the current Syracuse-area Osmose location is slated to close on April 30.

The company provides inspection, maintenance and repair services for aging infrastructure.
