Motorcyclist killed, passenger in serious condition after crash with SUV in Jefferson Co.

Jefferson County

A motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon after a crash with another vehicle in Jefferson County.

According to New York State Police, officers responded to State Route 3 in the Town of Hounsfield around 12:20 p.m. for a car/motorcycle crash.

An investigation revealed that a 2005 Chevrolet Trail Blazer, operated by Jennifer B. Lachenauer, of Watertown, was traveling northbound on Old Rome State Road and stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of State Route 3. Police said Lauchenauer then proceeded to drive through the intersection, failing to see a motorcycle that was traveling westbound on State Route 3, and into the path of the motorcycle.

The operator of the motorcycle, Daniel Davis, 52, of Sackets Harbor, was unable to avoid striking the vehicle and hit the passenger side of the trailblazer.

Both Davis and his passenger, Shelly A. Paris, were ejected from the motorcycle.

Paris was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse and was listed in serious condition.

Davis was transported to Samaritan Medical Center by Sackets Harbor Ambulance, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Lacheneauer was also injured in the crash, police said.

The investigation is continuing.
