6 people hospitalized after car crashes into house; bursts into flames

Multiple people are rushed to the hospital after a car crashed into a house and burst into flames.

According to the Oswego County Sheriff's Department, it happened around 10 p.m. Thursday night at a home on State Route 3 in the town of Volney.

The sheriff's department said it saw a car in that had been reportedly involved in a larceny from a local convenience store in Fulton County.

During that time, the deputy who spotted the car was advised the same vehicle had been reportedly stolen earlier in the evening from Oswego County.

Deputies said the driver failed to comply to when officials tried to pull them over on Street Route 3. According to deputies that's when the driver rear ended a car driving in the eastbound lane, sending it into a ditch.

The driver of the stolen car then took off and that's when deputies said the car struck a single family home. The car and home caught fire causing significant damage.

According to deputies, four people were taken out of the car and taken to Upstate University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The residents of the home were uninjured and assisted by the American Red Cross.

Deputies said the occupants of the car that was rear-ended were taken to Oswego Hospital for evaluation.

The accident is still under investigation at this time.
