Police have not yet named the two men shot and killed in a home Wednesday afternoon in the Syracuse neighborhood of Eastwood.

But Marcia Putnam told CNYCentral that her son is one of the victims

"Like somebody cut my heart out. That's how I feel," she said.

Putnam said police told her that her son was killed at 158 Lynwood Avenue near James Street and Tyson Place around 4:11 p.m.

Though police said it was likely a targeted shooting, Putnam said that doesn't make sense to her.

"I'm enraged to know that somebody would take the life of a person that didn't deserve this," she said.

Even as detectives searched for new clues that could lead to a break in the case, the neighborhood was deeply rattled.

Neighbor Michael Smith has lived in the area for more than 10 years.

"Real fast and, like I said, it sounded like a small string of firecrackers going off so I really didn't think anything of it," Smith said.

Police said there were no previous calls to the home where the double homicide occurred.

"Well, I'm a little concerned right now. I'm not sure what's going on. I don't know the whole story," said Melissa McCauley.

Those who identified themselves as family members of the victims said the men who were killed did not live at the home. They were just visiting.
