A New Hartford psychiatrist accused of forcible touching and sexual abuse is now facing additional sex crime charges.

According to Utica Police, Dr. Surendra Johri has been charged with two counts of forcible touching, and two counts of sexual abuse in the third degree.

Johri turned himself in on June 18 to face charges of third-degree sex abuse and forcible touching, which police say are related to alleged misconduct by Johri while working as a psychiatrist in Utica.

Johri was booked on the charges and released, according to Utica Police.

His most recent arrest stems from incidents occurring in 2017 at community Health Behavior Services, where he alleged to have touched a female patient sexually, police said.

Johri is due to appear in Utica City Court again on August 16.

The case is being prosecuted by Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara's Office.
