It is New York State Field Band Championship day at Syracuse University's Carrier Dome, with 52 marching bands from all over the state competing for 'best of' titles.

More than 4,000 band members are participating.

The audience is expected to be around 10,000, but not all at the same time: most viewers are parents of the band members, who only stay to watch their group compete.

The size of the band is not considered for which division they compete in. Schools compete in categories decided by their district size.

Small school classes are for districts with 4,000 students or less, large classes are for 4,000+.
