Officers confiscate drugs from mail at Auburn Correctional Facility
AUBURN, N.Y. —
According to officers, heroin and synthetic marijuana was confiscated from packages mailed to an inmate at the Auburn Correctional Facility last week.
Officials said on Wednesday February 7, officers discovered 11 grams of heroin and 196 grams of synthetic marijuana concealed in cans in separate packages mailed to an inmate. This was found during a routine search, according to officers.
The Western Region Vice President, Joe Miano, said this incident highlights the problem of contraband being mailed or brought in by visitors.
The inmates name is not being released according to officials.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
