Crash in Oneida County sends two to the hospital with minor injuries

Oneida County

A two-car motor vehicle accident in Oneida County Monday evening left two people injured, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.

Maciol said the accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Monday evening on State Route 49 in the town of Marcy, near where State Route 291 intersects the road.

According to authorities, Travis King, 38, of Utica, was operating a 2002 Lexus westbound on Route 49 in Marcy when he struck a Mack truck being driven by Jim DeFoarmond, 59, of Marcy. King's vehicle then overturned, and he and his passenger were transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital for minor injuries.

DeFoarmond and his passenger were uninjured, authorities said. King was issued tickets for aggravated unlicense operation in the third degree, and following too closely.

After the accident, one lane of Route 49 was shut down for some time, Sheriff Maciol said.

An investigation is ongoing.
