Police: 19-year-old shot in the back on South Avenue; In critical condition
SYRACUSE, N.Y. —
A 19-year-old man is in critical condition after getting shot in the back on South Avenue, according to Syracuse Police.
Officers responded to the area of South Avenue near East Bissell Street around 3:40 p.m. for a shots fired call.
As officers arrived on the scene, they learned that the victim had arrived at Upstate University Hospital in a private vehicle.
The victim told police that he was walking in that area and was shot from behind by an unknown suspect.
Police say he sustained two gunshot wounds to the back and is listed in critical condition, but is expected to survive.
There is no suspect information at this time, police said.
