Oneida Co. woman charged with DWI after passing stop sign, crashing into snow bank, house
REMSEN, N.Y. —
An Oneida County woman was charged with DWI over the weekend after crashing into a building.
According to New York State Police, troopers responded to 9611 Main St. in the Village of Remsen around 10:30 p.m. Sunday for a reported vehicle that struck a house.
An investigation revealed that a 2012 Suzuki SX4 was traveling westbound on Prospect St. in the village of Remsen at an unsafe speed. The driver failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Main St.
The vehicle then traveled across the north and southbound lanes of Main St., struck a snow bank and traveled across a snow-covered yard before striking a wooden porch structure attached to 9621 Main St.
Laura D. Mortagua, 56, of Remsen, was charged with DWI, speeding, unsafe tires, failing to stop at a stop sign, moving from lane unsafely and an unregistered motor vehicle.
Mortagua was issued appearance tickets returnable to Remsen Town Court on Dec. 5.
