Oswego County ADA accused of driving drunk, leaving crash scene resigns

An assistant district attorney in Oswego County accused of driving drunk and leaving the scene of an accident has resigned.

New York State Police say Thomas Christopher, 58, of Sandy Creek was arrested after an accident on Elms Road in the town of Sandy Creek Thursday evening.

Christopher, who lives on nearby Chipman Lane, faces charges of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. According to New York State Police, Christopher is accused of having a blood alcohol content of .17%. The legal limit is .08%.

Christopher was issued an appearance ticket and is due in court on May 17.

Christopher resigned as assistant district attorney Friday morning, according to a release by Oswego County District Attorney Greg Oakes. The Onondaga County District Attorney's Office has been assigned as special prosecutor for the case.

State police say their investigation is ongoing.
