Police: 15-year-old boy shot on Syracuse's south side

Syracuse Police are investigating a shooting Tuesday evening that involved a 15-year-old boy.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Atlantic Avenue around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday in regards to a shooting call. Several area residents also called the 911 center to report hearing shots fired in the area.

When officers arrived on the scene, they located a 15-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg, police said.

The victim was transported to Upstate University Hospital for treatment. His injuries don't appear to be life-threatening.

An investigation revealed that the victim was in the 600 block of Valley Drive when he was shot and that he ran to a residence on Atlantic Avenue to report the incident.

The victim said that the suspect fired shots at him from a gray or silver 4-door sedan and that the vehicle was last seen heading southbound on Valley Drive.

There is no specific suspect description available.
