Police: Canandaigua man burned clothes on sidewalk, fought officer

Canandaigua, N.Y. (WHAM) - Police arrested a man in Canandaigua after officers say he fought with them as they tried to arrest him for setting clothes on fire.

Officers said on Sunday around 10:45 p.m., they spotted a small fire burning on the sidewalk on Phoenix Street.

As they got closer, officers said they saw clothing had been set on fire by Klon Reese, 21.

Police tried to take Reese into custody, but he resisted arrest and fought with them, injuring an officer in the process.

Reese is charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest, open burning, disorderly conduct and littering.

Reese is being held at the Ontario County Jail to await arraignment.
