Police investigating robbery at Syracuse Byrne Dairy

Syracuse Police are investigating a robbery at a Byrne Dairy convenience store late Tuesday morning on the city's west side.

According to Syracuse Police, officers responded to the store at 1519 W. Genesee St. at 11:47 a.m. Tuesday in regards to a reported robbery.

When they arrived, store employees told them that a man had entered the store and demanded money, saying that he had a weapon in his pocket, though none was displayed, police said.

The suspect did punch one of the employees during the incident, causing a minor injury, police said.

The clerk did turn over a small amount of money and the suspect ran westbound from the area.

According to police, the suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his 30s, wearing a dark colored hooded jacket, dark jeans, black sneakers and white gloves. The suspect also had a red bandanna covering part of his face.
