Police: Man shot in his vehicle on Syracuse's south side

CNY Central

Syracuse Police are investigating a shooting Monday evening that left one man in serious condition.

According to police, officers responded to the area of South Avenue and Eastman Avenue around 10:48 p.m. Monday for a report of shots fired. Police said there was also a 911 call for a shooting victim and car crash nearby.

Officers arrived on the scene and found a male in his 20s with a gunshot wound in his abdomen area, police said. He was transported to University Hospital and remains in serious condition.

An investigation found that the victim was shot while he was in a vehicle, which appears to have been involved in a minor crash with another vehicle, possibly after he had been shot. Police said there doesn't appear to be any injuries resulting from the crash.

There is no suspect information available at this time. An investigation is ongoing.
