Police: Man shot in the buttocks on Syracuse's west side

Syracuse Police are investigating a shooting on the city's west side.

According to police, officers responded to the 100 block of Mather Street around 8:58 p.m. Tuesday in regards to a shooting call. There were also several calls to the 911 center from area residents that reported hearing shots being fired.

When officers arrived, they located a 40-year-old man who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his buttocks area.

The victim was transported to Upstate University Hospital by AMR Ambulance for treatment. His injury doesn't appear to be life-threatening.

An investigation revealed that the incident occurred within an apartment on Mather Street.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his 20s, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt. The suspect was with another man, who was only described as wearing a lighter colored sweatshirt.

Police said the suspects left the area in a light colored car. No additional suspect description is available at this time.
