Police: Oneida woman allegedly had sexual contact with child during 2-year period

A Madison County woman has been charged following an investigation into alleged sexual abuse of a child.

According to the Oneida City Police Department, Carlean Cumber (Christman), 41, of Oneida, was charged with predatory sexual assault against a child, a class A felony; rape in the first degree, a class B felony; criminal sex act in the first degree, a class B felony; and course of sexual conduct in the first degree, a class B felony.

Police said Cumber allegedly repeatedly had sexual contact and intercourse with a child less than 13 years old over the course of over 2 years.

Following her arrest, Cumber was arraigned before the Oneida City Court and was remanded to the Madison County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail or $30,000 bond.

She will reappear before the court on a later date and time.

The Oneida City Police were assisted by the New York State Police, Madison County Child Protective Services, and Chenango County Child Protective Services with this investigation.
