Police say body found in Tompkins County is missing Syracuse man

Thu, 24 Oct 2013 17:53:12 GMT — Police in Ithaca have released the identification of human remains found in Tompkins County on Wednesday.

State Police say the body is of 41-year-old Brian K. Austin of Syracuse. Austin has been reported missing from the Syracuse area since 2011.

Police say Austinâ??s remains were found Wednesday in a wooded area in Taughannock Falls State Park in the Town of Ulysses, 43 miles southwest of Syracuse.

The park located in rugged terrain on Cayuga Lake's southwestern shore, ten miles north of Ithaca, features the 215-foot Taughannock Falls.

Police say the cause and manner of death is pending an autopsy, and an investigation is continuing.
