Police: Syracuse man stabbed 7-year-old nephew in arm
SYRACUSE, N.Y. —
A Syracuse man, who police believe was under the influence of drugs, stabbed his nephew in the arm Saturday morning.
Syracuse Police responded to 249 West Brighton Avenue just before 8:00 a.m. for a stabbing call. Officers located the victim's uncle, 23-year-old Maurice Maddox, not far away.
When officers found Maddox, he appeared under the influence of drugs and was cutting himself with a piece of glass, police said.
Both the 7-year-old boy and Maddox were taken to Upstate University Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Maddox was sent to the Onondaga County Justice Center on charges of assault in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child, and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Police say the knife used was recovered.
