Real Heroes '18: Parents pay-it-forward with expansion of Challenger Baseball League
SYRACUSE N.Y. —
CNYCentral is featuring the 12 "Real Heroes" the Red Cross honored for their life-saving efforts or incredible contributions to Central New York.
Three parents of special needs children are being honored for paying it forward by continuing the expansion of the Syracuse Challenger Baseball League.
The program, based at the Carrier Field of Dreams, is expanding the number of playing fields, and many league members who ‘aged out’ are now coming back to play as adults. They’re going up to eight teams of over 18's. Their goal is to make it a complex for everyone, and they say parents benefit from the program by networking and learning from parents in similar situations.
Dom Cambareri, Dee Perkins and Jennifer Savastino are this year’s Community Service Real Heroes.
