Red Cross sets up shelters for flood victims

NEW YORK -- Volunteers from the American Red Cross are operating a number of shelters for residents affected by ongoing flooding impacting several communities throughout the region.

Those impacted by the floods are welcome to either stay at the shelters or stop by the facilities.

Red Cross Volunteers there are providing food and water, comfort and support.

In the the Finger Lakes Region, there are shelters in:

Seneca County at the Ovid Federated Church, on 7137 Main St. in Ovid,
Schuyler County at the Watkins Glen Central High School on 301 12th St. in Watkins Glen,
and Chemung County at the Big Flats Community Center, on 476 Maple St in Big Flats.

In the Southern Tier, there are three shelters in Broome County:

The Vestal American Legion on 118 S. Jensen Rd. in Vestal,
Donnelly Elementary School on 1168 Conklin Rd. in Conklin,
and Harpursville Baptist Church on 41 Cumber Rd. in Harpursville.
