Registration for Distribution Day in Syracuse
There is an effort underway right now to help the less fortunate in Central New York this holiday season.
Those in need of toys and food can register for the Salvation Army's Christmas Bureau Distribution Day. Every year around this time the Salvation Army teams up with community groups and volunteers to get items for the annual Distribution Day at the Oncenter in Syracuse. This year it is being held on Wednesday, December 19th. It will run from 9 am until 6pm. Eligible low-income families get a book, a toy and a stocking stuffer for each child in their family. Each family will get a gift card for a holiday dinner plus food.
Those looking to register can go to the Huntington Family Center on Gifford Street in Syracuse on Tuesday, December 4th. Registration will go from 10 am to 5pm. Also - people can register at the White Branch Library on Butternut Street in Syracuse on Thursday, December 6th. Registration will go from 10 am to 5pm. According to the Salvation Army, over the last 6 years, nearly 20,000 families and 40,000 children have been served on Distribution Day. In addition, more than 1,000 volunteers donate their time each year make Distribution Day a reality.
