Rope team pulls dog from Letchworth gorge after 16-hour rescue
Mt. Morris, N.Y. (WHAM) - An incredible rescue effort by rope teams in Letchworth State Park had a happy ending Friday morning after a dog fell more than 150 feet into a gorge.
Betty, the dog who was rescued, fell into the gorge around 6 p.m. Thursday.
Rope rescue teams with the New York State Park Police were in the park overnight for a total of 16 hours, working to bring Betty back up to her owner.
"A good lesson learned when you are hiking somewhere you are not too familiar with - it can go bad fast," said Annie Vith, Betty's owner. "I'm so thankful it was such a positive outcome and super thankful for this awesome team that helped out since yesterday."
