One person was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Whitestown Thursday morning, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said a pickup truck coming from Sutliff Road went through a red light at the intersection with State Route 233 and struck a tractor-trailer that was driving through the intersection on Route 233.

After colliding into the tractor-trailer, the pickup truck struck a car waiting to make a left turn onto Sutliff Road, according to officials.

Deputies said the driver of the pickup truck was identified as 60-year-old Douglas Atkyns. He was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office, officials said.

Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corp., the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, the Stanwix Heights Fire Department, and the Westmoreland Fire Department all assisted at the scene.

Route 233 and Sutliff Road was cleared and opened by 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
