SPD: Arrest made in Kellogg Street homicide investigation

Denzel Parler/ Syracuse Police

Syracuse Police have announced an arrest in connection to a homicide on Kellogg Street in the city last week.

Officers responded to 300 Kellogg St. for a shooting call around 9:34 p.m. Friday. When they arrived on the scene, they found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Chevalier Fisher, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene.

During a news conference Wednesday, Syracuse Police Chief Fowler said Denzel Parler, 24, had been arrested in connection to the homicide and faces charges of second-degree Murder and second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

The shooting was the result of a dispute between the victim and the suspect, Fowler said. Fowler declined to go into further detail about the incident, citing the ongoing investigation, but did say the victim had children with Parler's sister.

There is no indication the victim had a gun, Fowler said. The weapon used in the homicide has not been recovered.

Parler pleaded not guilty during his arraignment Wednesday morning. He's being held without bail.

A hearing for his case has been set for October 20.
