Outdoor fashion show returns to Syracuse's Armory Square
Downtown Syracuse will be turned into a fashion runway Thursday night.
The 8th annual Syracuse Style Fashion Show will be held outside on Walton Street in Armory Square. The show starts at 7:30 pm and is free to attend. There will be models showing off the latest fall fashions in clothes, jewelry, accessories and eyewear. Fashions from 15 different Downtown retailers will be on display and three Downtown hair salons will do hair and makeup for the 100 models taking part.
"It's different in that the show is focused on only Downtown Syracuse stores because it is co-sponsored by the Downtown Committee and their focus is on promoting Downtown Syracuse," said Executive Director Lisa Marie Butler.
VIP seating is available for $50 per ticket and high top tables are available for $175. People with VIP tickets get front-row access to the runway and can go to a pre-show party at Empire Brewing Company starting at 6:00 pm. Those tickets can be bought through downtownsyracuse.com.
"We hope the community will come out to watch the Syracuse Style Fashion Show to experience the creativity of local designers and retailers and sample the vast variety of Downtown’s retail offerings,” said Merike Treier, executive director of the Downtown Committee. “The line-up of clothing retailers, designers and specialty boutiques is a showcase of the elements that make Downtown Syracuse stand out as a retail destination in Central New York.”
Walton Street will be closed to traffic starting at 2:00 pm Thursday. If it rains the event will be moved inside to the Landmark Theatre.
CBS 5's Michael Benny will be emcee of the event.
