Su fans disappointed after losing to Miami

An unforgettable moment that will go down in history for Syracuse University football fans occurred last week — a shocking upset against the number two ranked Clemson Tigers at the Carrier Dome.

Fans hoped that momentum would carry into Friday night's game against the Miami Hurricanes, but the Orange fell short.

It was a close game up to the final moments, but SU ultimately lost 27-19.

Here in central New York, fans are feeling the loss. It's a game that had fans glued to the TV and on the edge of their seats.

Johnathon Ireton, of Liverpool, was raised in an SU football house. He came out with his friends to watch the game, and said the beginning was rough.

"Looking down on the game because Dungey threw a couple of interceptions," Ireton said.

The second half gave people more promise that SU could continue the momentum from its last big win versus Clemson.

"They started turning it around. Dungey came out and started doing amazing, started making better reads, better throws and all of a sudden it became a really good ball game to watch," Ireton said.

Sadly, the end result left Orange fans disappointed.

"We were hoping that since they beat number two last week, they would beat that they could have carried it on and beat number eight," Tyler Benjamin, of Fort Drum, said.

But many are still holding on, until the next game.

"It's sad but they still went out there and played really well and Miami played really well. There were just some missed catches and interceptions that would have made the game totally different," Ireton said.
