SU students continue camp-out tradition at the Dome ahead of game against Duke
SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY —
It's the beginning of a years-long tradition at the Carrier Dome-the camp-out ahead of the rivalry game against the Duke University Blue Devils, making a "neighborhood" affectionately-known as 'Boeheimberg.'
The tradition is for student season ticket-holders only and it's organized by Otto's Army, which is the student athletics organization at Syracuse University.
It designed for students to organize and try to snag the best seat in the student section for the game on Saturday.
Students are setting up their tents and their heaters for a couple of days of camping.
"I'm a legacy so my parents said to me, hey Brad you have to my uncle told me the same thing so I’m just fulfilling a family promise right now," said Brad Klein.
"I mean we’re setting the record on Saturday for the record attendance, and we want to be as close to the action as possible so anyway we can support this team this is gonna be an awesome awesome experience," said Jonathan Danilich.
This will go on into the wee hours of Saturday morning, which is of course game day.
Even Jim Boeheim himself is known to drop by the camp.
