Syracuse Man Accused of Robbing Uber Driver
A Syracuse man faces robbery and petit larceny charges, accused of robbing an Uber driver.
Around 2:36am Saturday, police responded to the 1700 block of Burnet Avenue, regarding a call for police.
When they arrived, police found two men standing outside of a vehicle involved in a dispute.
One of the men was an Uber driver, who told police he had been robbed by 37-year-old Laurence Walker, of Syracuse.
The victim said he picked up Walker on James Street. Once Walker got into the vehicle, Walker began to argue with the victim regarding the Uber fare.
The victim told police, Walker then told him to stop the vehicle on Burnet Avenue.
The victim said he stopped the vehicle and Walker grabbed him by his neck and demanded money. The victim said he gave Walker the money in his wallet.
Walker was found with the victim’s property at the time of arrest.
Walker was lodged at the Onondaga County Justice Center pending his arraignment.
