Suspect in the deadly Fitch Street fire arrested after returning to the scene

The suspect in the deadly Fitch Street fire was arrested after returning to the scene.

According to Syracuse Police, 20-year-old Charles DuBois was charged with second-degree murder and first-degree arson.

DuBois is a family member and was living in the home, Police Chief Frank Fowler said. DuBois was later found at the scene due to nearby surveillance cameras.

Syracuse Police said Dubois was the uncle of one-year-old Hunter DuBois. Hunter was transported to Upstate University Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Three other victims remain in critical condition Thursday night.

Dubois was sent to the Onondaga County Justice Center.

Officials said additional charges against DuBois are possible as the investigation continues.
