Syracuse Police make arrest in deadly stabbing of 19-year-old over the weekend

Syracuse Police have made an arrest in this past weekend's stabbing on N. State Street that left 19-year-old Christopher Hickey dead.

Keenan L. Davis, 18, was arrested Tuesday evening in the village of Cleveland, in Oswego County.

Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler said at a news conference Tuesday evening that Davis and the victim knew each other.

Police were called to 1104 N. State Street around 1 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, police discovered that Hickey had been stabbed in the torso while he was in a fight with Davis.

Hickey was transported to Upstate University Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

An investigation was conducted by detectives in the Criminal Investigations Division, which included several interviews, a thorough neighborhood canvass and the examination of evidence located at the scene. As a result of the investigation, detectives were able to identify Davis as the suspect.

Davis was charged with Manslaughter in the 1st degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree.

He is currently being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center.
