A Save-A-Lot store location on Syracuse’s west side will be closing for good on Friday.

The discount grocery store located in Geddes Plaza just off S. Geddes St. will be shutting its doors permanently on Friday afternoon, a manager told CNYCentral on Thursday.

The manager could not comment on any specific reason for the store’s closing.

The announcement marks the second supermarket closure in the area in a little more than a year. Nojaim's Market closed its Gifford St. location in September 2017 after more than 100 years in business.

Further south, the Tops location in Valley Plaza closed back in October as part of that grocery chain’s bankruptcy filing.

Save-A-Lot has another location on Butternut St. on Syracuse’s north side.
