A Syracuse teen pleaded guilty Thursday to manslaughter in connection to a December 2017 shooting that killed an 18-year-old man.

Lamar Murray appeared in court Thursday and pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the first degree for the Dec. 8, 2017 shooting that killed 18-year-old Jaquan Moore.

Murray was sentenced to 18 years in prison and was denied a youthful offender status.

On Dec. 8, 2017, On Dec. 8 police responded to the 600 block of South Geddes Street for reports of shots fired. When they arrived, officers found a car that had struck a utility pole. The driver, Moore, was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He died from his injuries shortly after arrival.

Investigators said they determine Moore had been shot while stopped at a traffic light in the area. When he was shot, Moore's vehicle went north and struck the pole.

Moore’s grandmother was in court on Thursday and said she does not feel any animosity towards Murray and hopes he comes out and encourages others to not take the path he did.
