Teddy bear collection underway to help the needy in CNY

Syracuse Crunch players pick up stuffed animals from the 2014 Teddy Bear toss

There is a call out for new or used teddy bears.

They will be given out to the less fortunate in Central New York this holiday season. Teddy Bears are being collected and will be part of the toys and food that are given away as part of the Salvation Army's annual Christmas Bureau Distribution Day at the Oncenter in Syracuse.

On Saturday, December 8th people can bring old teddy bears to the Syracuse Crunch game at the War Memorial. The Teddy Bear Toss is popular every year and hundreds of bears are donated when fans throw them on the ice. The bears will then be cleaned by Stanley Steemer in DeWitt. People can also go to the business and donate teddy bears.

Distribution Day will be held on Wednesday, December 19th.
